What are essential oils?

  • Essential oils are part of a plant. They help carry nutrients to different parts of the plant, they fight bacteria, viruses, and fungus, and they also heal the plant when the plant gets damaged.

  • The ancient Egyptians used the essential oils for medicine, beauty, emotional support, and embalming, and there are many recipes mentioned in the hieroglyphics for using essential oils for healing. Essential oils are also mentioned throughout the Bible as well.

  • Oils are extracted through steam distillation from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, fruits, rinds, resins, and herbs.

  • Oils are 50-1,000 times more potent than dried herbs!

  • You are basically using a plants internal first aid kit.

  • Essential oils fall into 4 categories: Grades A,B,C, and D.

    • A: Therapeutic - made from organically grown plants and distilled at low temperatures

    • B: Food grade: may contain synthetics, pesticides, fertilizers, chemical extenders, or carrier oils.

    • C: Perfume: often contain adulterating chemicals. They usually use solvents, like hexane, to gain a higher yield of oil per harvest. They may also be diluted 80-95% with alcohol.

    • D: Floral water: this is aromatic only and is usually a byproduct of the Grade A distillation. After all of the oil is pulled out, the leftover trash water is sold to companies who will fill 5% of the bottle with this “floral water” and fill the rest with what they want and call it “pure”.

  • When you are purchasing essential oils, check to see if the company grows their own plants, owns their farms, and controls the entire process from Seed to Seal - from the farm to the sealed bottle.

  • Pesticides, pollution, previously farmed land --- all of this will affect the quality of an oil.

  • Young Living’s oils are Grade A. I only use Young Living Oils for all my clients.

What is Young Living?

Young Living was founded over 25 years ago and makes 100% pure and therapeutic grade essential oils by using plants from their own farms worldwide, non-GMO, Heirloom seeds.

They know when to harvest for the maximum benefit from the plant.

They are the only company with a Seed to Seal promise where you know every bottle of oil is the same as the one you got before and that there are no synthetics or chemicals in them.

Each oil is tested with 9 different methods to ensure quality.

I really like that their farming techniques are sustainable and pesticide-free.

Why do essential oils work?

Each oil has a frequency or a vibration- a specific level of energy. This frequency can be transferred to you and raise your frequency level in a positive way.

Oils cross the blood-brain barrier so smelling an oil will lift your mood and raise your frequency. Oils can directly impact certain parts of the brain that control how your body works.

Oils help you connect back to nature which is very grounding and brings your body into homeostasis, or balance.

How oils are made:

It takes a LOT to produce a tiny amount of essential oil.

-60 thousand rose blossoms provide only 1 ounce of rose oil

- Lavender is abundant, 220 pounds will provide 7 pounds of oil

-A Sandalwood tree must be 30 years old and 30’ high before it can be used for distillation

A little goes a long way. Most Young Living oils are $10-$30 a bottle. A 5ml bottle contains 90 drops, and a 15ml bottle contains about 250 drops. Each application is 1-3 drops, meaning even a small bottle will get you 45-90 applications.

I have oils available for sale after your session or I can help you purchase them on your own. I will always be available to support you with your oil usage.
