Energy

THERAPY

Do you realize how much you already know about energy from your daily experiences?

Sound, touch, sight, taste, smell-we access information through our senses, and that information comes to us through energy. The sun’s rays are a form of energy-think solar power. Seeing color is a form of energy-light on the spectrum of waves that translates to color when you see it. Hearing is based on sonar and radar. Your senses of taste and smell detect chemical energy-think by how the atoms in molecules vibrate. Everything is energy, even the empty spaces!

When you hit your elbow or stub your toe, your first instinct is to cover that pain with your hand. When a child falls and skins their knee, the first instinct of a mother is to cover that hurt with their hands. These are all ways your body is moving energy to take away the pain and provide your body a balance from the injury.

Humans have an energy system that surrounds them, sometimes called aura or energy field. Within this energy field are the Chakras, or energy centers that act as gears or powerhouses that help move the energy through your being along energy channels or meridians.

In acupuncture, needles are used to move the energy along the meridians and to remove blocks where energy may have become blocked, congested, or stagnant. Energy Therapy is a process where your energy is moved in a non-invasive manner to provide balance. As described earlier in the example of stubbing your toe, we all are able to move energy. A practitioner of Energy Therapy is trained and more aware of how energy moves in order to facilitate finding the balance your body needs.

Why do you want energy movement in your body?

The first question really is why would my energy be blocked?

Energy can become blocked, stagnant, limited, or compromised for a number of reasons.

Stress, fear, anger, feeling lost, lack of motivation, anxiety, trauma, pain, grief, loss,

mental clutter, depression, insomnia, and an assortment of daily stressors that impact us

in our daily life. Life experiences naturally hold tough moments. I read somewhere that if you never experienced uncomfortable or hard situations, you would never understand how good things can be! Often, when we experience an issue that causes a blockage, we can release it or move through it. Sometimes we can’t and it gets stuck in our layered energy system.

Receiving Energy Therapy provides you the nudge you need to move the energy through those blocked areas. By releasing the stagnant energy, your body is able to deeply relax and be supported in a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual way. Everything impacts your energetic body first and then your physical body. By repairing your energetic self, you clear a path for your physical body to heal.

Benefits can include better sleep, lower stress, relief from pain, calmness, a sense of well-being, less fatigue, mental clarity, improved relationships, natural release of emotions, groundedness, increased energy, feeling healthy, and finding peace within yourself.

What happens in an Energy Therapy session?

Energy Therapy is held in a peaceful setting, but it can be done anywhere, even over distance. During an in-person session, the client will lie on a massage table, fully clothed, face up. There may or may not be music, depending on their preference. There is usually aromatherapy included in the form of an essential oil diffuser or essential oil application to your head or feet depending on their comfort level. Sometimes stones or crystals are placed next to you or on you.  A sheet or blanket is provided along with a pillow.

The session starts with an assessment of the Chakras and the practitioner will explain what the assessment results mean. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or over specific areas of the head, limbs, and torso using different hand shapes, for between 2 and 5 minutes. The hands can be placed over 20 different areas of the body.

If there is a particular injury, such as a burn, the hands may be held just above the wound.

While the practitioner holds their hands lightly on or over the body, the transfer of energy takes place. During this time, the practitioner’s hands may be warm and tingling. Each hand position is held until the practitioner senses that the energy has stopped flowing. Often a client will become deeply relaxed or fall asleep.

After the energy has become balanced, the practitioner will re-assess the Chakras and make sure they are all open and clear. Clients are asked to drink plenty of water as the energy session helped moved toxins, much like a massage would.

How many sessions do I need?

One session is helpful to open the energy system and with the client’s awareness and support, the Chakras can stay open. Sometimes for deeper issues (grief, trauma, pain) or more intense circumstances, multiple sessions are needed to maintain a balance to give your body, mind, and spirit a chance to catch up. The first session is a good benchmark to understand the areas that need work whereas the following sessions are where a greater understanding of repeat Chakra closures and a stronger variety of techniques can be applied.
